Your college is a lifelong investment. This is where you are going to get ready for a career in a field you love. And while your school is going to eventually pay for itself, you don’t want to spend the golden years of your career saddled with loans. Luckily, there are tons of scholarships out there that you might not have even known existed! As a Seattle senior photographer, I adore working with students to get them ready for everything after graduation. Here are the scholarships in Seattle you need to know about!

Seattle Foundation offers a number of scholarship opportunities for students across the Seattle area. They open up their applications each year around November, with deadlines in March of the following year. While they give you the full list on your website, here’s a brief sample:
Hawkins Memorial Scholarship: a scholarship for students at Lake Stevens High School who wish to pursue studies in life sciences, medicine, or pharmacy.
Microsoft Scholarships: scholarships awarded to different minorities studying STEM.
Doyle M Green Scholarship: a scholarship for female graduate students pursuing law, medicine, social service, or public service.

1414 31st Ave, Ste 302, Seattle, Washington 98144
Washington State Opportunity Scholarship is a reward dedicated to providing an equitable education to students in Seattle and across the state. It was founded under the realization that the world was sorely lacking people in trade, healthcare, and STEM fields. They focus on recruiting people who might struggle to break into these jobs, including women and other minorities. They offer three different scholarship opportunities, including the Baccalaureate Scholarship, the Career and Technical Scholarship, and the Graduate Scholarship. You can apply directly from their website.

If you intend to apply to colleges within the state, one of the best things you can do is check your school of choice and see what scholarships they offer. I promise, many of them are more achievable than you might have thought! Here are some of the options you can try:
Seattle Colleges: this school offers scholarships for students at the North, Central, and South campuses. To qualify, you must plan on going to Seattle Colleges, have a minimum of a 2.0 GPA, and complete the FAFSA/WASFA.
Seattle University: This college offers workshops that let you see how you can earn one of their scholarships. They offer assistance through Costco, Rainer Scholars, Passport to Careers, and more.
Seattle Central Scholar: With their Commitment Scholarships, you can apply for assistance as long as you have a 2.0 GPA.
University of Washington: UoW offers academic scholarships to 600 students across the state, typically in their second year of college. They also have options through the different academic departments.
With these scholarships in Seattle, overwhelming student loans don’t have to be a part of your future! Check them out soon so you can find the best option!
